Meet Alicia Duran, Quality Control Inspector out of West Pak’s Dallas, Texas, facility. She’s been with the company for about a year and has quickly become a valuable asset on the production team. Alicia ensures the quality and accuracy of orders before they leave the facility, but it’s her great attitude and strong desire to help others that truly set her apart.

What are your current responsibilities in your role as Quality Control Inspector?
Alicia: I check all of the outgoing orders to make sure the fruit is good, and the product is the same as what’s listed on the ticket. I check the temperature of the fruit and trailer to make sure we maintain proper cold storage. Also, I check the PTI labels to make sure they are visible and legible and match the tag for the pallet.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Alicia: Everything! I really like working on the orders for the JustRipe! Department.
What are the strengths that you bring to your job?
Alicia: Consistency and a positive attitude. I am always willing to help.
What is the most challenging part of what you do?
Alicia: Making sure the order is entirely in spec for the customer. When the order asks for its specs to be 5-10 lbs., for example, and it’s not quite there – when the ask is outside of specs – we have to ask for approvals to send the order like it is. Having to switch mid-process can be challenging.
What has helped you succeed in your position?
Alicia: Being responsible. Also, the help of the other team members who have been here longer and the support of the supervisors.
How do you like working for West Pak?
Alicia: West Pak took a chance on me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to work for such a great company. It’s also fun, and always something going on. Being busy makes the day go by faster.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Alicia: I like walking, being with my family, and watching movies.
What is your favorite quote or motto?
Alicia: God is always with me.

Alicia: I am scared of balloons and am allergic to the vanilla scent.
What is your favorite way to eat or prepare avocados?
Alicia: I love avocados with everything! My favorite is to eat it naturally – just grab a spoon and dig in!
