In June 2018, the California Avocado Commission (CAC) organized a tour of West Pak’s packing house in Murrieta, California. It was a busy Saturday morning at the facility, as California’s avocado production was in full swing. Brimming with avocados, large bins were lined up and ready to start their journey on the sorting line and on to retailers and foodservice customers across the nation as the CAC group along with select members of the trade press looked on.
West Pak’s Luis Lerma led the tour of the packing floor and through the facility’s many amenities. He explained that every hour, approximately 32,000-33,000 individual avocados can be sorted, graded, and packed at West Pak’s packing house. In addition to its own product, avocados from around 165 outside growers are packed in the facility. Click here to read the full article at Fresh Plaza.
